I'm on the verge of getting my Rainbox Pheonix and was hoping to come up with a potentially viable build. I acknowlege that it is likely a waste of time but I'd like to give it a run. any advice?

Uh don't know but I do remember coming across an Ele with a pet in Hero Battles a couple of times and after a first laugh I got stomped .. ever since had some good chats, when our paths crossed. So to answer your question ... those builds are out there but you ain't find them them here or on wiki ... make something up!

Very few Ele skills will target an ally, so you won't have much to cast on your pet. This means you would be using all Beast Mastery skills, or having a gimped build by trying to play Ele and Beast Master at same time. Even just the 2 skills for the pet would make your ability to play as an Ele bad (Charm Animal+Comfort Animal).

Primary class offers no benefit to a Beast Master build for an E/R. Energy Storage would allow you to spam skills longer, but you really don't need that much energy to run a pet build. With no runes or head gear, you are maxed at 12 attribute points.

It can be done, but outside of a specific build (like the HB mentioned above) you will be average at best.

For the pet to have any kind of survivability at all, even as a distraction, in tough areas, you will need to use three skill slots: Comfort Animal, Charm Animal, and Call of Protection or Otyugh's Cry. You will also need to spec a lot of points into Beast Mastery.

Given the energy pool you have available, you could probably try a full beastmaster build with 12 in BM. Say, [Call of Protection][Call of Haste][Predator's Pounce][Enraged Lunge][Comfort Animal][Charm Animal]

That leaves you room for a couple of options, such as a self-defense spell, attack spell, another pet attack, etc. A similar build works well for my beastmaster ranger, but he has 16 BM. It won't be as effective on an ele, though I've thought about giving it a try.

My ele gave up using his pet in missions by the time he reached the Crystal Desert, and gave up taking it in general exploration shortly thereafter. His pet did make short work of the Doppleganger, but became too much of a liability elsewhere. Basically you're giving up your strengths as an ele -- AoE utility and damage (Earth, Fire), single-target spike damage (Air), etc. -- for mediocre single-target damage.

Meh it is funny that this got poseted cause as wierd as it is I wanted to get a pet on my ele as well. Not really to use but to get a pheonix to level 20 and put it in hom. Since I already have the moa and spider I just need the pheonix to have all 3.

You do know, I hope, that it's the Imperial Phoenix from endgame Factions that has the special statue, not the Rainbow Phoenix that appears in the HoM after you max 10 titles.

The Rainbow Pheonix can be put in under Animal Companion, once it's lvl 20, in with your heros, not minipets.

Just to clarify, it is the Imperial Phoenix from Factions that has its own statute you just need to get it to lvl 20 first. I had this same question, but wiki clarifies it.

[Heal as one] can certainly replace the elite if the pet is not living long enough but you sacrifice some damage

Keep the weapon spell on pet at all times and follow his but in to drop the battle standard you will be surprised how much damage they can do with it in combo

[Glyph of immolation] and [fireball] / [flare] can replace the ele skills for a more distance approach if you wish

Here is what I came up with for pve from a build I got from one of you online:

[glimmering mark][conjure lightning][scavenger strike][poisonous bite][pain inverter][symbiotic bond][comfort animal][charm animal]

I had energy issues with the version I was given so I used [scavenger strike] and I like [symbiotic bond] for general durability and let the monks cover healing more.

And [pain inverter] is in all my builds for PvE, heh.

I'll update I play it a bit more.

A while back I was test running the build I posted above on my level 7 raven. I was getting 121 dmg out of him on a level 24 Minotaur. I have since switched to another character, and I am curious on what a full level 20 would get for damage on enraged lunge, so if anyone wants to try it out let me know

With builds like those, the pets are going die about three seconds into the first battle, blanking out the skillbars and leaving you pretty helpless for a bit. Then, if you survive the experience, you have no way to rez the pets, so you need to continue on with the six skills you have left and no pets. That seems pretty pointless. If you can't keep a pet healed and protected, then bringing one is just gimping yourself.

you could drop liquid flame for [call of protection], and anthem of envy for [revive animal] or one of her other skills, and drop shambling for [call of protection]

theres very few passive defensive or healing skills in the game that effect allies
